Tokyo Game Show 2023
The pandemic either canceled or severely reduced video game companies’ ability to travel to Tokyo Game Show. This year, the exhibition was back at capacity. I spent most of the show walking around with Mandy and Katie which made it even more fun. The rest of the time I shot photos of gaming booths and the occasional cosplayer. I say “occasional” because the space allotted for cosplay seemed much smaller this year. I think this was due to an increase in the number of VR and independent developer booths.
パンデミックはビデオゲーム会社の東京ゲームショーへの参加をキャンセルさせたり制限しました。可能今年、展示会は満員の状態に戻りました。ほとんどマンデーさんとケイティさんと歩き回り今年のほうが楽しかったです。他の時はブースと時々コスプレの撮影をしました。コスプレの場所は前より小さくなったと感じたから「時々」と書きました。VRと独立系開発者のブースが増えたからだと思います。
Brad’s Gaming Cavalcade
Last month, I forgot to include my board game adventures. Close readers (meaning, none of you) noticed, so I will catch up now.

Last month I met up with the Japan International Gamer Guild for:
- Shake that City – point salad with a cardboard contraption for randomizing wood blocks that worked surprisingly well.
- Nana – set-collecting filler card game.
- Eetenki – a complicated game of predicting the weather I did not completely understand.
- Don’t Let It Die – a card game of cavemen trying not to die and failing.

- Shake that City – ポイントサラダというで木製ブロックをランダムに並べかえる装置があります。驚くほど上手く動作しました。
- Nana – セットコレクションというカードを集める簡単なゲームです。
- Eetenki – わかりきれない難しい天気予報のゲームです。
- Don’t Let It Die – 旧石器時代の死なない様にしようとして失敗するゲームです。

- Carcassone – the classic tile-laying game
- Bohnanza – the classic trading card game
- Ra – my favorite auction game
- Coloretto – a new favorite for light, filler card games
- Wonderous Creatures – a new point salad with an interesting resource gathering mechanic.
