For the first time in three years I made it home for Christmas. It was a nice trip, but you can read about the worst flight I’ve ever taken in this month’s post.

Christmas 2022
My trip home was filled with hanging out with Mom, Christmas day with my family, and way too many cookies. The weather started out beautiful, but quickly turned cold with one of the worst winter storms in years. Fortunately, the snow did not last and the skies were mostly clear.
実家への旅行は母とのんびりしたり家族とクリスマスの祝いをしたりクッキーを食べすぎたりしました。天気は始めは晴れだったけれどすぐに寒くなってひどい大雪が降りました。幸いなことに雪は続かなくてほとんど晴天になりました。
My trip back to Tokyo was an utter nightmare. My flight was canceled due to mechanical problems, forcing me to spend New Year’s Eve stressed out in an Atlanta hotel. The next day, my aisle seat with extra leg room was reduced to a middle seat in between two men taller than me.
東京へ戻る便は悪夢でした。機械的な問題のせいで便をキャンセルされて大晦日にアトランタのホテルにストレスを感じながら居させられました。次の日、エクストラレッグルームがある通路側の席は私より背が高い二人の男性間のミドルシートに交換されました。
Things got worse, however. A seemingly kind woman offered to trade seats with the tall fellow to my right. She turned out to be an incessant talker, however, and she pestered everyone around us for the middle 10 hours of the flight. Two hours before landing, she finally quieted down by falling asleep leaning on me.
そして事態は更に悪化しました。見かけが親切そうな女の人が右の男の人の席と交換しました。でも喋りすぎる人で便の中の十時間まわりのみんなを悩ませました。その人は着陸の二時間前に静かになって私に寄りかかって眠りました。
When we landed, I found out that the airline lost my luggage.
着陸の後、航空会社が私の荷物を無くしたことを知りました。
Everything was righted two days later, but it was an inauspicious beginning to the year.、
2日後、全部は大丈夫になったけれど、年初は不吉でした。
