This month I have my typical shrine photos along with something a little stranger from the indie wrestling scene.

今月、典型的な神社の写真があって、インディープロレスから少し風変わりな物があります。

My favorite indie wrestler in Japan is Anchamu. She’s part pro-wrestler, part Jpop idol, and part comedian. Because she works small shows, I do not always know what kind of venue any given event will be in. This month, I saw her in a pro-wrestling memorabilia store called Toudoukan in Sugamo.

一番好きなインディープロレスラーは杏ちゃむと言います。彼女はプロレスラーでJ-POPアイドルでコメディアンでもあります。小さいショーをするからたいてい私はどんな会場になるのかがわかりません。今月は巣鴨の闘道館というプロレスグッズ屋でした。

The “ring” was a couple of gym mats surrounded by cheap chairs separated from the rest of the store’s second floor by shelves of wrestling costumes, masks, magazines, and dvds. The hour-long, five-person match saw the fighters go from the mats, down the stairs, and out into the streets in front of the store. Occasionally, the battle had to stop to let a car traffic through. Those were the longest 20-counts I’ve ever seen.

リングは、安い椅子に囲まれて、プロレスの仮面やコスプレや雑誌やDVDがある棚で店の二階を仕切った所にある二つのスポーツジムのマットでした。一時間の五人の試合で、プロレスラーが闘いながらマットから階段を降りて店の前の道に行く様子を観ました。時々、車をとおらせるために試合を止めなくてはなりませんでした。見たことがあるカウントの中でその20カウントは一番長かったです。

Strolling in Nezu

Nezu is a section of central Tokyo with some beautiful shrines and gardens. I was too cheap to pay the entrance fee for the biggest garden, but the Nezu Shrine and Yushima Tenjin Shrine offered plenty of photo opportunities.

根津はきれいな神社と庭がある東京の中心部です。一番大きい庭の入場料を払いたくなかったけれど、根津神社と湯島天満宮ではたくさんの写真を撮る機会がありました。
