During a record setting heatwave, I managed to attend a couple of festivals and concerts.
記録的な熱波の間に、何とか二つの祭と二つのライブに行きました。
Torigoe Festival
On the downside, I failed to see Japan’s largest omikoshi (portable shrine) being carried through the streets of Torigoe. On the upside, I ate one of my favorite foods, festival okonomiyaki, a fried pancake with fish and cabbage.
悪かったのは、鳥越の道を日本の一番大きなお神輿が練り歩く様子を見逃してまいました。良かったのは、魚とキャベツが入った祭の大好きなお好み焼きを食べたことです。
Tsukiji Lion Dance Festival
You will notice a distinct lack of lions in my photos from this festival. The omikoshi featuring them appeared later than I could stay that day. But I saw several cart-style omikoshi and marveled at the tourist-trap prices of the local sushi stands. Other notable sights were the popular in-bloom hydrangea and the nearby giant Tsukiji Hongan-ji Temple.
「獅子」の写真が全然ない事に気づくと思います。その日、獅子があるお神輿は私がいられた時間より遅くに現れました。でも、他の屋台型のお神輿を見ることができて、地元の寿司屋の高額な観光地価格に驚きました。他にも満開のアジサイや近くにあった巨大な築地本願寺も印象的でした。
Reitoubonyuu Concert
I had the chance to shoot my acquaintance, Habiko’s, band again in nearby Shinjuku.
近場の新宿でハビコという知り合いのライブの撮影のチャンスがまたありました。
Anna Sato’s 20th Anniversary Concert
I have been trying to see another Anna Sato concert since 2022, but our schedules never matched. This month I got to attend a special show celebrating 20 years of performing. The jazz club in Shibuya was too fancy for me, but the show was excellent. I even got a photo with Anna outside the club. I tried to explain who I was, but I don’t think I made myself clear. なかなか都合が合わなかったけれど2022年からまた里アンナのライブにいきたいと思っていました。ついに今月、デビュー20祝年の記念日の特別なライブに行くことができました。渋谷のジャズクラブはわたしには少し場違いなほどおしゃれだったけれど、ライブは素敵でした。クラブの外でアンナと写真を撮りました。私が誰なのかを説明しようとしたのですが、はっきり伝わらなかった
