The storms of the rainy season and an unpleasant summer cold kept me from doing much of anything interesting this month. I managed to attend an art exhibition by one of my favorite Japanese artists, and I have a few photos from the show.
梅雨の雨と酷い風邪のせいで、今月は面白い事をあまりしませんでした。大好きな日本の芸術家の一人の展覧会を見て写真を撮りました。
Galactic Junction
Natsuki Yoshida (a.k.a. The Galactic Junction) is a Japanese artist I first encountered at Tokyo Design Festa about ten years ago. She paints gloomy and mysterious pictures of Japanese schoolgirls using traditional inks. I’d always wanted to purchase one of her works and I finally got the chance at a solo exhibition in Shinjuku. The piece I bought is titled “I never want to forget the scent of March.”
吉田なつ樹（またの名をThe Galactic Junction）は、東京デザインフェスタで十年頃前に出くわした日本の芸術家です。墨で暗くて不思議な女子学生の絵を描いています。いつも絵を買いたいと思っていて、遂に新宿の個展で買うチャンスを得ました。「３月の匂いはいつになっても忘れたくない」と言う絵を買いました。
