August 2021 – Maybe I’m Projecting

This month, I tested a projector as a TV replacement and it was every bit as boring as it sounds.

今月、テレビを代わりのプロジェクターを試して、この話はつまらないです。

Staring at Walls

Although large for a Japanese apartment, my place does not have sufficient room for a decent sized TV. I found a cheap projector on the Internet and decided to give it a whirl. Using the rolling table I bought last year, I cast the picture on the wall opposite of my reading chair.The projector can connect to my phone, so I can watch any video playable by a smartphone app.

普通に比べて私のアパートは大きいのだけど、大きいテレビのスペースがありません。インターネットに安いプロジェクターを見つけて試そうと思いました。去年買ったローリングテーブルを使って、読書用椅子の前壁にビデオを映しました。プロジェクターはスマホを繋げられるから、スマホのアプリで見られるビデオを見られるわけです。

The results of the experiment were fair. The picture was OK, but centering the frame on the wall was difficult. Also, I could not get the projector far enough away from the wall to maximise the picture. The projector ran hot and loud, which was a minor annoyance. Time will tell if I continue to watch video this way.

この実験の結果はまぁまぁです。画像は大丈夫だけど壁に枠をセンタリングするのがしにくかったです。また、最大表示を見る為に壁からプロジェクターを遠くに置けませんでした。プロジェクターが熱くなることと音が大きいことがちょっと煩わしかったです。もっと使うかどうかは時が経てば分かります。
