With Covid fear alive and well and with more governmental restrictions in place, there is not much to do other than check out local parks and shrines, which is about all you are going to get from me over the next few months.

Nakano City Tetsugakudō Park
Tetsugakudō Park (“Park of the Philosophy Shrine”), about a 20 minute walk from my apartment, is known for cherry blossoms, a river walk, and black status of world religious figures.
アパートから二十分歩いた所にある哲学堂公園は、桜と川沿いの散歩道と黒い宗教上の人物の立像が有名です。
If you are as lucky as I was, you might even see someone taking their pet ferret on a walk.
もし私の様に運がよかったら、ペットのフェレットと散歩している人を見られるかもしれません。
If you like parks, and I don’t, this was perfectly pleasant. Although I got my brand new shoes very dirty, which was a bummer.
公園が好きだったら（私はそうじゃない）これがよかったでしょう。新しい靴をすごく汚してしまいましたけど。
The Spice. No, Not the Girls!
I received a copy of the novel “Dune” when I was in grade school from my Grand Aunt’s husband. I finally got around to reading it, about 40 years later. I found it to be a masterpiece. The 1984 film adaptation, however, does not hold up. Oof.
小学生の頃、親戚から”Dune”という小説をもらいました。四十年後、ついに読みました。傑作だと思います。1984年の映画はちょっといまいち。。。
