New Boss<\/h2>\n

Early in June I had a couple of interviews with SecureState<\/a>, a computer security consultancy in Cleveland. They were looking for a technical writer to join a team that creates the final reports after the ethical hackers try to break into a client’s computer network. <\/p>\n

\u516d\u6708\u306e\u4e0a\u65ec\u300cSecureState<\/a>\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u4f1a\u793e\u3067\u5c31\u8077\u306e\u9762\u63a5\u3092\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u30af\u30ea\u30fc\u30d6\u30e9\u30f3\u30c9\u306e\u30b3\u30f3\u30d4\u30e5\u30fc\u30bf\u30fc\u306e\u30bb\u30ad\u30e5\u30ea\u30c6\u30a3\u30fc\u306e\u30b3\u30f3\u30b5\u30eb\u30bf\u30f3\u30c8\u4f1a\u793e\u3067\u3059\u3002\u540c\u50da\u306e\u30cf\u30c3\u30ab\u30fc\u304c\u9867\u5ba2\u306e\u30b3\u30f3\u30d4\u30e5\u30fc\u30bf\u30fc\u30cd\u30c3\u30c8\u30ef\u30fc\u30af\u3092\u306b\u62bc\u3057\u5165\u305f\u3089\u5831\u544a\u66f8\u3092\u4f5c\u6210\u3059\u308b\u30c1\u30fc\u30e0\u306f\u66f8\u58eb\u3083\u8349\u3092\u63a1\u7528\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Apparently they liked me because I am now employed there. As of this post I have only gone in a few times, but everyone has been friendly and helpful. The company is fairly young, so it is really casual. Many people wear jeans or even shorts, there is a pool table and other games in the break room, and a Nerf war is scheduled for next month.<\/p>\n

I am very happy to be back in the workforce. Slowly, my life is lurching forward again.<\/p>\n

New Wheels<\/h2>\n

In most places in America, life is difficult without a car. My commute from my Mom’s house to work is about a half-hour and no public transportation goes on the same route. So I headed to our local Toyota dealer and, after some severe negotiation, bought this green 2013 Camry.<\/p>\n

It is easily the nicest and most comfortable car I have ever owned. My favorite feature is the radio system, which integrates with my smartphone, allowing me to play files from the Internet.<\/p>\n

Lonely Gaming<\/h2>\n

Since my return to America, I have not had a chance to find a local game group to play with. Needing a fix, I have been using two solo card games to avoid withdrawal. The first was the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game; Rise of the Runelords. I have played this game with six players in the past and hated it, but as a solo game it works much better. While it has a strong theme, there is not enough strategy or tactics and too much randomness for my taste. The Lord of the Rings; The Card Game is a much better solo game. I started playing this game in Japan but lacked a table big enough to hold all the cards, so I did not use it often. In America I rediscovered my love for this very difficult game. Although Sauron and his allies sometimes mercilessly crush my merry band of adventurers, most games are a tricky balance of aggressive and defensive, with plenty of room for CCG-style card combinations.<\/p>\n
