NEET<\/h2>\n

In Japan they have a phrase for people like me, “NEET,” which stands for “Not in Education, Employment, or Training.” (1) Others might call me a “sponge,” a “leech,” or “a single guy who couldn’t cut it abroad.” Whatever the term, I spent the entire month of April searching for a job and spending as little money as possible. That means I do not have much to blog about this month. In order to reward you for clicking through to this entry, there is a special bonus at the end.<\/p>\n

Clifford Weier’s Celebration of Life<\/h2>\n

The traditional American funeral is a sad affair, with everyone dressed in black and the deceased body on display before burial. My father hated this kind of funeral as did my whole family, so we held a “Celebration of Life” on April 2 rather than a funeral. Instead of my father’s body, we displayed many photos of him from his whole life. We used his iPod to play all the music that he loved. Finally we had an open bar, pizza, and lots of desserts. We tried to create the best goodbye party we could.<\/p>\n

Many family members joined us. Family friends came as well as ex-coworkers. It was great to see so many people who knew and loved my Dad.<\/p>\n
