I already covered the first week of December in last month’s post about my trip to Japan. This month I wrote about a care package I sent to myself from my travels.<\/p>\n

While in Japan, I picked up some Japanese food which I have not been able to buy in America. Taking food through customs means additional forms, lines, and waiting, so I decided to mail the goods to myself. The postage was not cheap, but I convinced myself the convenience was worth it.<\/p>\n

\u65e5\u672c\u3092\u8a2a\u306d\u308b\u6642\u30a2\u30e1\u30ea\u30ab\u3067\u8cb7\u3048\u306a\u3044\u548c\u98df\u3092\u8cb7\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f. \u98df\u3079\u7269\u3068\u30a2\u30e1\u30ea\u30ab\u306e\u901a\u95a2\u304c\u3057\u306b\u304f\u3044\u304b\u3089\u30dd\u30b9\u30c8\u3067\u9001\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306b\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f. \u9001\u6599\u306f\u3084\u3059\u304f\u306a\u3044\u3051\u3069\u4fbf\u5229\u3060\u304b\u3089\u5927\u4e08\u592b\u3060\u3068\u601d\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f.<\/p>\n

I received the package weeks later than I expected, and the box was quite torn up. But the contents were fine.<\/p>\n

\u4e88\u60f3\u4ee5\u4e0a\u9045\u308c\u3066\u304f\u308c\u3066\u7bb1\u306f\u304b\u3051\u307e\u3057\u305f. \u3067\u3082\u5185\u5bb9\u306f\u3088\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3067\u3059.<\/p>\n

The number one item I wanted to obtain was miso sauce. Strangely, even Japanese people seem to be largely unaware of this condiment made from soybeans and intended for rice, vegetables, and even meat. I used a ton of this stuff while I lived in Japan and have missed it severely since I moved. I also picked up Japanese instant noodles. Although I can buy Chinese and Korean versions in my neighborhood, the Japanese variety eludes me.<\/p>\n

I also got some Japanese hot mustard, packages of Japanese curry sauce, and norikake, a seasoning for rice.<\/p>\n

Japan has a lot of instant soups. Although they are expensive and contain an unhealthy amount of salt, they are an easily prepared snack, great for cold, winter days.<\/p>\n

\u65e5\u672c\u306f\u30a4\u30f3\u30b9\u30bf\u30f3\u30c8\u30b9\u30fc\u30d7\u304c\u305f\u304f\u3055\u3093\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059. \u9ad8\u304f\u3063\u3066\u4e0d\u5065\u5eb7\u306e\u3055\u3068\u306e\u91cf\u304c\u3042\u308b\u3051\u3069\u6599\u7406\u304c\u3057\u3084\u3059\u304f\u3066\u51ac\u306e\u5bd2\u3044\u65e5\u306b\u306f\u3044\u3044\u3067\u3059.<\/p>\n

Finally, I packed in some strange flavors of hard candy. The green tea and honey varieties are my favorite.<\/p>\n

Christmas 2016<\/h2>\n

I spent Christmas with my family at my sister’s house. It was a pleasant day highlighted by video games, an excellent spaghetti dinner, and a lovely tree.<\/p>\n
