The rest of the month was dull, so I decided to write about one of my favorite YouTube channels.<\/p>\n<p>\u6708\u521d\u3081\u306b\u3082\u3046\u3063\u56deAnn Arbor \u3078\u65c5\u884c\u3092\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000\u6708\u672b\u307e\u3067\u3064\u307e\u3089\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f\u304b\u3089\u6c17\u306b\u5165\u308a\u306eYouTube\u306e\u30c1\u30e3\u30cd\u30eb\u306e\u4e00\u3064\u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u66f8\u304f\u3053\u3068\u306b\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n<h2>There&#8217;s a First Time for Everything<\/h2>\n<p>I spent another Labor Day in Ann Arbor with Jim and Alison.  This time, however, I accomplished a personal first: I ran Dungeons and Dragons for a first-time player.  Although Jim and I have been playing for most of our lives, this game was Alison&#8217;s first.<\/p>\n<p>Labor Day\u306bAnn Arbor\u306b\u30b8\u30e0\u3068\u30a2\u30ea\u30bd\u30f3\u3068\u6642\u9593\u3092\u304b\u3051\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000Dungeons and Dragons\u3092\u306f\u3058\u3081\u3066\u3059\u308b\u4eba\u3068\u30b2\u30fc\u30e0\u3092\u306f\u3058\u3081\u3066\u904b\u55b6\u3092\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000\u30b8\u30e0\u3068\u4e00\u751f\u30b2\u30fc\u30e0\u3092\u3057\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u307b\u3069\u30a2\u30ea\u30bd\u30f3\u306f\u306f\u3058\u3081\u3066\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n<p>I wrote an introductory adventure that contained many of the essentials of a good D&#038;D game, investigation and mystery, epic battles, and decision points that have a real impact on the story.  The challenge was to fit all of this into a single evening. We even played a second game on Sunday. <\/p>\n<p>\u5e78\u3044\u306b\u30a2\u30ea\u30bd\u30f3\u306f\u30b2\u30fc\u30e0\u304c\u597d\u304d\u3067\u96e3\u3057\u3044\u30eb\u30fc\u30eb\u304c\u308f\u304b\u308a\u3084\u3059\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3002\u3000\u65e5\u66dc\u65e5\u306b\u4e8c\u3064\u3081\u306e\u30b2\u30fc\u30e0\u3092\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n<h2>Music for the Elderly<\/h2>\n<p>When I was a kid, I could never understand why my parents ignored the current popular music and listened only to music that was decades old.  Then I got old and now I do the same thing. I am not sure if today&#8217;s popular music is terrible or if I am simply out of touch due to my age, but these days I cannot identify any popular singers or even hum along with popular songs.<\/p>\n<p>\u5b50\u4f9b\u306e\u6642\u4e21\u89aa\u304c\u30dd\u30c3\u30d7\u30df\u30e5\u30fc\u30b8\u30c3\u30af\u3092\u898b\u9003\u3057\u3066\u53e4\u3044\u97f3\u697d\u3057\u304b\u805e\u304b\u306a\u3044\u3053\u3068\u304c\u308f\u304b\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000\u305d\u308c\u304b\u3089\u5e74\u3092\u53d6\u3063\u3066\u3044\u3066\u540c\u3058\u3053\u3068\u3092\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3000\u4eca\u306e\u30dd\u30c3\u30d7\u30df\u30e5\u30fc\u30b8\u30c3\u30af\u306f\u60aa\u3044\u304b\u79c1\u306f\u5e74\u306e\u70ba\u306b\u96e2\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u304b\u308f\u304b\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002\u3000\u3053\u306e\u3054\u308d\u6709\u540d\u306a\u6b4c\u624b\u304b\u66f2\u304c\u308f\u304b\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n<p>To help remedy this, I found a great channel on YouTube called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCaTSjmqzOO-P8HmtVW3t7sA\">Todd in the Shadows<\/a>.&#8221;  Todd is a thoughtful music reviewer who comments on current hit songs as well as researching the stories of one-hit-wonders.  Although I still think most popular songs are terrible, at least I can draw that conclusion from direct experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u76f4\u3059\u70ba\u306b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCaTSjmqzOO-P8HmtVW3t7sA\">Todd in the Shadows<\/a>\u3068\u8a00\u3046\u3044\u3044YouTube\u306e\u30c1\u30e3\u30cd\u30eb\u3092\u898b\u3064\u3051\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000Todd\u306f\u601d\u3044\u3084\u308a\u306e\u97f3\u697d\u30ec\u30d3\u30e5\u30fc\u3092\u3057\u3066\u4e00\u767a\u5c4b\u306e\u4f5c\u4e2d\u3092\u7814\u7a76\u3092\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3000\u30dd\u30c3\u30d7\u30df\u30e5\u30fc\u30b8\u30c3\u30af\u304c\u307b\u3068\u3093\u3069\u304c\u60aa\u3044\u3068\u601d\u3044\u307e\u3059\u304c\u76f4\u63a5\u306e\u7d4c\u9a13\u304b\u3089\u304c\u308f\u304b\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n<p>Occasionally, though, he will review a song that is, if not good, is at least highly amusing.  &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6JCLY0Rlx6Q\">Shut Up and Dance with Me<\/a>&#8221; by Walk the Moon is one such song.  The band listened to a lot of 80&#8217;s music when composing this tune and it shows.  The opening guitar riff is nearly identical to the beginning of U2&#8217;s &#8220;Where the Streets Have No Name.&#8221;  The rest of the song is a big, anthemic party song, the likes of which I often heard on the radio when I was a kid.<\/p>\n<p>\u3068\u304d\u3069\u304dTodd\u306f\u697d\u3057\u3044\u66f2\u3092\u30ec\u30d3\u30e5\u30fc\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3000Walk the Moon\u306e&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6JCLY0Rlx6Q\">Shut Up and Dance with Me<\/a>&#8220;\u304c\u4f8b\u3048\u3070\u3067\u3059\u3002\u3000\u3053\u306e\u66f2\u3092\u4f5c\u66f2\u3059\u308b\u6642\u30d0\u30f3\u30c9\u306f\u516b\u5e74\u4ee3\u306e\u97f3\u697d\u3092\u305f\u304f\u3055\u3093\u805e\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000\u306f\u3058\u3081\u3066\u30ae\u30bf\u30fc\u306e\u30ea\u30d5\u306fU2\u306e&#8221;Where the Streets Have No Name&#8221;\u306e\u306f\u3058\u3081\u3066\u30ae\u30bf\u30fc\u30ea\u30d5\u304c\u540c\u3058\u3067\u3059\u3002\u3000\u5b50\u4f9b\u306e\u6642\u30e9\u30b8\u30aa\u306b\u805e\u3044\u305f\u66f2\u3088\u3046\u306b\u5927\u304d\u304f\u3066\u30a2\u30f3\u30bb\u30e0\u3089\u3057\u304f\u3066\u30d1\u30fc\u30c6\u30a3\u30fc\u30bd\u30f3\u30b0\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n<p>The lyrics are pretty awful.  The refrain, which begins the song and is repeated ad nauseum, rhymes &#8220;back&#8221; with &#8220;back&#8221; and &#8220;me&#8221; with &#8220;me.&#8221;  Plus, I don&#8217;t understand why the singer accuses his date of &#8220;holding back.&#8221; The two just met, so I can&#8217;t imagine why he is complaining.<\/p>\n<p>\u6b4c\u8a5e\u304c\u60aa\u3044\u3067\u3059\u3002\u3000\u7e70\u308a\u8fd4\u3057\u3059\u304e\u308b\u30ea\u30d5\u30ec\u30a4\u30f3\u306f&#8221;back&#8221;\u3068&#8221;back&#8221;\u3068&#8221;me&#8221;\u3068&#8221;me&#8221;\u3092\u62bc\u97fb\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3000\u305d\u3057\u3066\u6b4c\u624b\u306f\u5973\u306e\u4eba\u304c\u9060\u616e\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u3068\u8a00\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000\u4e8c\u4eba\u306f\u4eca\u524d\u59cb\u3081\u305f\u304b\u3089\u6587\u53e5\u304c\u308f\u304b\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the song is really fun to sing along with.  The <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6JCLY0Rlx6Q\">video<\/a> is funny, and the female dancer steals the show with her skill and enthusiasm.  (Check out 3:24 when she leans back so far during a dip that you can see her entire face upside down.)<\/p>\n<p>\u3057\u304b\u3057\u66f2\u3092\u6b4c\u3046\u306e\u304c\u697d\u3057\u3044\u3067\u3059\u3002\u3000<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6JCLY0Rlx6Q\">\u30d3\u30c7\u30aa<\/a>\u3082\u697d\u3057\u304f\u3066\u5973\u306e\u4eba\u306e\u30c0\u30f3\u30b5\u30fc\u304c\u4e0a\u624b\u3067\u529b\u6f14\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3000(3:24\u5206\u306b\u88cf\u8fd4\u3057\u306e\u9854\u3092\u898b\u3048\u308b\u70ba\u306b\u5f8c\u308d\u306b\u3082\u305f\u308c\u307e\u3059\u3002)<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the rest of Walk the Moon&#8217;s album is not nearly this fun.
