I actually did something interesting this month! I caught the Peter Gabriel and Sting Rock Paper Scissors concert! Read about it below, then skip the other boring stuff.<\/p>\n

Gabriel and Sting<\/h2>\n

It was a particularly difficult month at work and I did a bad job of planning my schedule around this concert. So I was not in a great mood that night. I am not a big Sting fan, but Gabriel is my favorite and I do not know how many more tours he will do. I figured that Gabriel’s half of the show would be good and I would tolerate Sting’s half. Thus, I went into the show with pretty low expectations.<\/p>\n

\u4eca\u6708\u4ed5\u4e8b\u306f\u5927\u5909\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000\u305d\u3057\u3066\u3053\u306e\u30b3\u30f3\u30b5\u30fc\u30c8\u306e\u30b9\u30b1\u30b8\u30e5\u30fc\u30eb\u4e0b\u624b\u306b\u4f5c\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000\u305d\u3057\u3066\u3053\u306e\u6669\u306b\u6a5f\u5acc\u304c\u60aa\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3067\u3059\u3002\u3000Sting\u304c\u3061\u3087\u3063\u3068\u597d\u304d\u3058\u3083\u306a\u304f\u3066\u3082Gabriel\u304c\u4e00\u756a\u597d\u304d\u306a\u6b4c\u624b\u3067\u4f55\u56de\u516c\u5712\u3059\u308b\u3053\u3068\u304c\u308f\u304b\u308a\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002\u3000Gabriel\u306e\u534a\u5206\u306f\u3044\u3044\u3067Sting\u306e\u534a\u5206\u3092\u6211\u6162\u3067\u304d\u308b\u3068\u601d\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3000\u3060\u304b\u3089\u671f\u5f85\u304c\u4f4e\u304b\u3063\u305f\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n

But the show was ten times better than I ever hoped. First, instead of splitting the show into two halves, Sting’s band and Gabriel’s band were integrated. When Sting sang lead, Gabriel sang backup, and vice versa. They even covered each other’s songs. Gabriel seemed really energized by the show and pushed his voice harder than I remember from previous events. There were at least three highlights. First, Sting’s version of Gabriel’s “Kiss That Frog” was even dirtier than the original. Gabriel’s cover of Sting’s “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free” sounded like a creepy stalker was singing it. Finally, Sting played the first verse of “Dancing with the Moonlit Knight” as a comment on the Brexit vote. (“Selling England by the pound.”) One other interesting point: While the audience seemed more enthused by the more famous Sting, it was Gabriel’s classic “Solsbury Hill” that got the loudest ovation. This show was a highlight of this year.<\/p>\n

Indoor Grill<\/h2>\n

BradBlog readers with excellent memories may remember that, last year at this time, my Mom and I were teaching each other how to cook using her gas grill. Unfortunately, at my new apartment, I am not allowed to have a gas or charcoal grill. So, I decided to try a Cuisinart electric indoor grill. Although the grill managed to cook salmon decently, it was no hot enough to do justice to grilled vegetables and breakfast foods. I guess I need a new apartment.<\/p>\n

Music Video Corner<\/h2>\n

Once again, it is time for crazy Japanese pop music! This video is by a dance-troupe-turned-pop-stars called Tempura Kidz<\/a>. My favorite things in this video are the grimaces rather than smiles on the dancers’ faces, the fake slow motion move, and the not-quite-properly-framed jump cuts. (And you can play a fun game while you watch this video. Guess which one is a boy!)<\/p>\n
