I have been employed long enough to finally begin scheduling vacation time. I will visit Japan this winter and Toledo this summer. In this entry I also talk about the end of a big project and bring you some more lonely gaming.<\/p>\n

Brad Will Vacation in Japan<\/h2>\n

At the end of May I was able to schedule my vacation days for 2016. I will spend virtually all of my days on a trip to Japan for about two weeks this winter. This schedule will allow me to attend my favorite show, the Tokyo Design Festa. I will try to nail down the exact dates by next month. I do not have an exact plan for what I will do, but I might try to sneak down to Kyoto for a few days while I am there. I can’t wait!<\/p>\n

JimMattBradCon 2<\/h2>\n

One day of my vacation will be used for a three day weekend in July for JimMattBradCon 2. JimMattBradCon is a gathering of three friends of thirty-plus years who revel in the nostalgia of a weekend-long game of Dungeons and Dragons. We purposefully choose a dull location so we can focus on the game. The first JimMattBradCon took place in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 2006. This year we chose Toledo, Ohio for its centrality and utter lack of anything to do.<\/p>\n

My Scanner is Smoking<\/h2>\n

Back in March, I told you about a giant project I was working on to digitize a mess of old keepsakes and papers. That project turned out to be much larger than I anticipated and it ate up most of my free time from March until the very end of this month, when I finally finished. For the curious among you, here are a few of the things that now live solely as zeros and ones on my hard drives.<\/p>\n

Lonely Gaming 02<\/h2>\n

In my entry last June I talked about playing solo games due to my lack of a gaming group in Ohio. The game pictured below is called Castellion and I only recently heard about it.<\/p>\n

It is basically a puzzle game where you try to arrange tiles into specific patterns before the timer runs out. You know its a good puzzle game when, after losing once or twice, you obsess about beating it until you get another chance. So far, I have played the beginner and intermediate game and it has remained engaging.<\/p>\n
